No. 60 (2018) The Breaker Upperers July 18th.

Film No. 60 (2018) July 18th.  6:45 PM EVENT Cinemas Innaloo.

"I want a nice clean break. I don't want years of heartache and stalking and therapy and possible violence." (A potential client explains the reasons for using Mel and Jen's expertise).

With a film pedigree of the likes of Boy and Hunt For The Wilderpeople, The Breaker Upperers was an outing I was particularly looking forward to. Now, the promotional sprucing "shouts" hilarious six times and there are some hilarious moments but too few to truly legitimise the poster. Mel (Madeleine Sami) and Jen (Jackie van Beek) quite literally do the dirty work of those too spineless to call off a relationship. Each scenario has an original take, from wandering minstrels to hooded bandits enacting a kidnapping. But once 40 minutes of the high concept is played out Breakers tries on a romance theme I was keen to break away from. Remember, there are some hilarious moments in the first stanza. That may be worth the visit. Non mainstream, off beat comedy, of the original variety is worth some applause, definitely! 7GUMS.
